Sickness and the such

Well...I blame all you guys :p. Seems all the bloggers have been getting sick lately, than bam, out of nowhere I'm sick. So I am thinking you guys are to blame :p

I forget who posted about people going to work while sick, well I am one of those people. I am at work right now, coughing and sneezing in another room, sick as a dog, but, money is money and I need to buy my new bike this year, so here I am. Looking to buy a Kona Hoss within the new two months, so saving up for that.
This will be my new beauty in about two months. Comes in at about 1300$ for it after everything else I want to add, so saving up for this.

On another note, this is day #2 I have stuck to the diet. No gym today though because Im sick. I know working through the sickness is the way to go, but ugh..I feel like crap..lower than crap..worm crap.

So I am going to go work now, and try to go home early and sleep. So a warning to all..when you come by a blog where someone is sick...get ready...its comming for you next!

Anyone have any cold remedies they want to share?

Looks like an excellent ride! By the way, if you ride mostly pavement you might want to invest in a set of Geax Evolution commuter tires! Built tough and a lot less rolling resistance than knobbies! Last longer too.....save your knobbies for offroad! The Hoss is a great bike for a Clyde!

Yeah, was thinking of that too..the knobbies just look so cool hehe :D

I don't know if it's available where you are but if you can find it...Cold FX works like a dream.
Other than that...good old liquids, chicken soup and lots of rest. That includes staying home from work! ;o)

    Hope you're feeling better soon.

    Cheers,
    Raida

btw - great progress on your road to weight loss.

Hey Tyler - thanks for visiting my blog! You're doing great so far!

As for the cold - I always try for the non-medicinal route if I'm able (not always possible when my poor sinuses are like cement). Hot tea with lemon, ginger, and a touch of honey is WONDERFUL.

    Get well soon!

Oh - and I forgot to add that we're fellow Canucks! I've been to London a few times, but it's a bit too small for a city gal like me;-)

Eat raw cloves of garlc. If you can't eat them raw, try mashed on bread and butter. Orange juice. (rest!) Honey lemon tea with a shot of whiskey. Homemade chicken soup with lots of garlic. Actually once you've got it, looks like 2 weeks standard to recover.

Glad your blog popped up..this blessing is for you. It takes a few minutes to play out, but watch it. Don't know why you came to mind to share it with you.

Jeepers -- everyone is sick! But I too am one of those who work through it. Oh well...

I just bought a new bike too. A cute little road bike. Can't wait til it gets nicer so I can get out and ride!

Cold Remedy.... NYQUIL! It's the best. It'll knock you out, and kill anything in your system.

Geax Evo's are also good on Hard pack, gravel, a little slick for mud, bit great for ccx riding on singletrack! Kevlar reinforced and pretty much glassproof, and only about $22.00US a piece! 26X1.95 in size, built like the proverbial brick outhouse. The only drawback is they are a bit heavy at 880 grams ea. vs. 650-700 grams average for other commuters. I haven't had a flat yet with them though and I do get into some p4etty rough riding conditionss, what with hucking and hopping riding urban commutes!

Congrats on the diet. I have just started my own exercise program using the Body for Life method. It works. I have packed on 10 lbs of muscle and kept my body lean. Not sure what your goals are but best of luck and much success to you.

Okay, I can think of a few things. They can taste awful, but they work for me.

    1) Chew on raw garlic. It actually prevents colds as well as soothes a sore throat. It doesn't taste so great, but it works. Eating one raw garlic a day during meals helps. Then, chew on tea leaves to get rid of the bad breath..hehe.

    2) For sore throats, melt an aspirin or other pain killers in your mouth. You can try to hold it at your throat, but it's really hard and gross. If you can do it, it works too and will get rid of the sore throat the next day.

    3) Ginger tea with no milk or sugar...just plain tea brewed with raw ginger.
