I need a belt!

Well, well, here I am this morning getting dressed for school, (6am is such a evil evil hour to have to wake up too) and as I am putting my pants on I notice something. I need a belt!
That is right, my pants are loose. They are able to breathe, my gut and the button on them are thanking me for making things less snug. No more will I have to worry about a button putting someones eye out when I bend over, no more will I have to worry about the crotch of them ripping, setting my face into a deep red as I run for cover. From this day forward I will be able to stand tall and not sucking my gut in...as my pants finally need a belt.

Now I will go looking for a belt, perhaps even a belt buckle. (Damn those country songs and there influence on me). So this weekend, I will go belt shopping and find a belt to hold my now loose pants up.

On another note, I am not sure if any of you have noticed but the blogsphere seems to slow down during the summer. I am too a victim of this, and why I made no promise to update daily, as I am sooooo busy with work, school, cycling, swimming, sleeping that the only time I get to blog is from work. Though, to be fair, I am not giving up on the weight loss. Actually as you can see from the columns above it is working out rather well again so far.

I found some old pictures of me, back from 2003. I was 150 pounds light than. At the time I remember thinking I was fat, now looking back I only wish I was that fat again. Either way, that picture is my motivation for the week.

Well, I am back to work now, I am back in class in the morning so time is really tight right now.

Anyone else have any summer activities they are doing this summer to loose weight?

Tyler, just found your site on blogmad. Your story is compelling and I wish you well. I think recording your journey is a great idea and I hope that you get all the support around the world towards your goal. Good luck and wonderful health!

Congratulations! Keep track of the small victories, they'll help you through the journey! I'm perpetually 15 pounds over, not terrible, yet it plays with my mind. I see pictures of me at 25 and I think wow, was I small. Oh well, I run for exercise. NOt fun, but it keeps things status quo.

Yay, Tyler! Sounds like you're enjoying your summer. Cool wind in your face when you're cycling. Woo hoo! Do tell what belt you get.

You know what I'm doing, pedaling my arse off! I won a race last week against a ranked tri-athelete, by the way, with an average speed over a 5000 meter course of 28 mph, against a headwind and a slight upgrade, not bad eh? By the way, I found rahter quickly that a belt won't work! I needed suspenders due to body geometry changes! :D

I am with Tom: suspenders rock, even if for me they are a fashion statement and not really a necessity, unfortunately. As a matter of fact, since sheedding my first 20 pounds, old clothes were too baggy and I "archived" them. And the new... are just tight as hell!

Congrats on the belt, the belt buckle part made me laugh. Hailing from Calgary and with Stampede starting tomorrow there will be an abundance of those around.
My summer activity will be training for a marathon...a walking marathon goal time is 6.5 hrs. That seems like such a long time :)

I am swimming, and doing lots of long walks this summer. I love outdoor exercise! It seems almost effortless because you're in the outdoors.

I wanted to give you great kudos for the belt (and the buckle, lol). Pretty soon you'll need a new pair of pants altogether. Keep up the great work!

    Hi Tyler

AMAZING, doesn't it feel marvelous to need a new belt or drop a inch or say no to that tempting cherry garcia.

Is the litte things that keep me going and they should keep you going as well. Rome was not build in one day and to go anywhere , it starts with a STEP.

Listen man, let me know any thing I can do to help you lose wait, we are in this together.
Find out if there is any 5k or 10k race in your area, I 'll go walk it with you, we are not that far, seriously.

I am starting swimming as a complement to my walking and biking. Sincerely I like walking more than biking, I feel more free, I can stop I can run I even can dance if the music I am listening to, compels me to.

    Keep the good work

    Roddy

Isn't that bizarre, Seeing a picture of yourself lighter, then remebering how badly you felt about it. Makes you realise how much time we spend feeling bad.

I think it is awsome what you are doing. I am trying to lose 100 lbs. My dad has just lost 90. You are going to do f**king great.

The best summer thing is swimming if you can get to a pool. Nothing sucks more than being hot in the heat. In the pool, you also feel weightless.

Some fat people don't like it because they are self concious.

But it feels so good I don't give a damn what other people think.

TYLER! 10 days + gone by and you have no news from you! Feel bad about yourself! Come back! And tell us which belt you bought!

Congratulations on needing a belt! It's great to see these changes.

I have started a new project and I am wondering if you would like to be apart of it. Basically I want to collect postcards from people all over the world . I'm calling it Postcard Exchange (I've posted it on my blog if you want to read more about it) as I offer to send a postcard of Australia to anyone who will send me a postcard from their location. Are you interested? I hope you are as it's doubly cool to get a postcard from a familiar blogger.

Well let me know if you're interested by commenting on my blog or sending me an email.

i look at pictures of me when i was in college and weighed 140 (I'm 5'8) and wish i was that small again (AND NOT PREGNANT too)
but i remember at the time always obsessing about my weight and how "fat" i was. what a shame i wasted all that time worrying when i looked pretty damn good. thats our culture for you!

Congrats on going down a size.
I know sometimes we really don't realize that were okay no matter what size we are or we see ourselves as fatter than we are.
I can now look at my wedding photos with fondness. I was over 100 pounds heaver then but I was not ugly. I had the glow of being in love.

Congratulations on the belt dude! You give me hope - I just went up a size!

I know what you mean about old pictures. I have pictures of myself from every stage of my life when I thought I was fat. If I could only be that "fat" again.

I just found your blog. I'll definitely be back. Come visit me sometime and leave me a note: lastpick.blogspot.com.

Take care and while your at it, buy two belts!

it's a great feeling when something that was tight suddenly is loose. Thanks for the update!

I'm looking forward to experiencing that myself. hehe

I'm on holiday for another couple of weeks until the new school year starts up. Already I'm hating the sound of the geese fly above in the wrong direction. *sigh* Canadian summers are just far too short. Although not as short as when I was a kid.
